Friday May 29

 Good afternoon,

** For next week: On Tuesday June 2, we will be going on a community walk to Fish Creek Park with our Indigenous Elder, Hal Eagletail. It will take about 40 minutes to walk there, and 40 minutes to walk back. Please be sure that your child has appropriate footwear, sunscreen, a water bottle, and appropriate clothing for the weather.

**On Wednesday June 3, we will be going to the Zoo. Again, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately.

Thank you for reading our classroom blog. Here are some highlights of our week:

Math:

- we practiced converting fractions to decimals and vice versa

- we played Blooket to practice converting fractions and decimals

- we practice simplifying fractions daily in our Mad Minutes

Literacy:

- we practiced plurals. For example, if a word ends with y, drop the y and add ies.

- we learned a poem and have been practicing presenting it for the volunteer tea

- we've practiced our typing skills using Dance Mat Typing

- we've been making posters to thank our parent volunteers

Science:

- we presented our animal research projects to the whole class (you can always log on to Google Classroom at home to see your child's project)

- we checked on our marigolds to see how they're growing. We decided our classroom is not sunny enough, so we have moved them across the hallway to Ms. Bossenberry's class in the hopes that they will grow stronger.

We spent a lot of time going to swimming lessons this week! On the last day, we loved the lazy river, using flippers, and playing basketball. Some of us learned how to dive and somersault into the pool. We had to do a test at the end of our lessons.
