Good afternoon,
Here is some of what we have been working on this week:
Math:
- adding and subtracting decimals numbers, including with money
- continued practice with multiplication and division fact fluency
- continued practice with estimation using "Esti-Mysteries"
Literacy:
- continued our Book Club groups, reading Stone Fox. We are about to read chapter 10. Our jobs include: summary director, prediction director, art illustrator director, discussion director, opinion director, and dictionary director.
- possessive nouns (aunt, aunts, aunt's, aunts')
- started learning about poetry
- Teacher Time: we read our chapter books out loud to the teacher
- writing two paragraphs about the fur trade
- cursive j, k, l
- We are starting a new read aloud called Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh
Social Studies:
- women in the fur trade (their roles and why they matter)
- two companies, Hudson Bay Company and North West Company, who bought and sold furs and other goods for profit
- fur trade "check-in"
Art:
- geometric art
**REMINDER** On Wednesday May 6, we will be going to McKenzie Highlands for a tour. If you have not returned your child's permission form, please do so ASAP.
